The Brijuni Conference 2024 has ended, significantly impacting the space sector with its in-depth discussions and innovative ideas. The event commenced with a remarkable opening by Slobodan Danko Bosanac, followed by a keynote session from Heiner Klinkrad, Professor at the Technische Universität Braunschweig and former head of the European Space Agency (ESA) Space Debris Office. His lecture established the context for the upcoming days, emphasizing key challenges and advancements in space debris management, and providing the conference with a wealth of knowledge.
During the event, experts from around the world shared insights on important topics. Ognjan Božić presented a groundbreaking proposal for the European Space Tug. It is designed to deliver payloads to low lunar orbit and remove obsolete objects from critical orbits. This innovation sparked discussions on future space logistics and safety. The event also explored satellite technologies such as CubeSats and the Space 4.0 concept, showcasing their transformative potential in modern space exploration.
The event concluded with a panel discussion titled “Actual Challenges for Future Trends in Space,” moderated by Heiner Klinkrad. Panelists, including Heinz Stoewer, Carsten Scharlemann, Guenter W. Hein, Serdar Yildirim, and Zoran Kahric, discussed key issues such as improving debris prediction accuracy, developing double fail-safe propulsion systems, and addressing cybersecurity risks in space operations.
Organized by the Adriatic Aerospace Association in cooperation with the Ruđer Bošković Institute and FabLab Bosnia & Herzegovina, and held under the high patronage of Mr. Zoran Milanović, President of the Republic of Croatia, the Brijuni Conference 2024 has once again proven to be a crucial platform for advancing space innovation and fostering international collaboration.
