Croatia Strengthens Its Position in the European Space Sector with the Signing of an International Agreement

At the international Vytah conference in Bratislava today, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, establishing a new platform for cooperation in the development of the space and high-tech ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe. Croatia joined the agreement through the Adriatic Aerospace Association (A3), further reinforcing its role in the rapidly growing European space sector.

The Memorandum was initially signed by representatives of VytahConf (Slovakia), the Adriatic Aerospace Association (Croatia), and INFOTER (Hungary), while at the Bratislava conference on April 23, 2026, the European Space Foundation from Poland officially joined the initiative, further strengthening the partnership at the regional level.

Strategic Importance for Croatia

For Croatia, this agreement represents a significant step forward in positioning its domestic space and technology industry internationally. Through active participation in this regional initiative, Croatian companies, startups, research institutions, and students gain access to:

  • international investment networks and venture capital funds
  • joint projects within EU, ESA, and NATO programs
  • cross-border collaboration and talent mobility opportunities
  • increased global visibility for Croatian innovation

Particular emphasis is placed on developing young professionals and connecting academia with industry, which is a key prerequisite for Croatia’s long-term growth and competitiveness in the space sector.

Regional Cooperation as a Key Success Factor

The signed MoU aims to unite currently fragmented resources and initiatives across Central and Eastern Europe and to create a strong, integrated ecosystem capable of competing globally. The focus of cooperation includes the development of joint conferences, innovation projects, educational programs, and investment opportunities.

One of the key projects is the establishment of a leading regional “traveling” space conference, with its first edition planned for spring 2027 in Budapest, followed by rotation among the member countries—opening the possibility for Croatia to host this important event in the future.

Long-Term Vision

Although non-binding, the agreement lays the foundation for long-term strategic cooperation based on trust, transparency, and shared interests. Its open structure allows for the inclusion of new partners, further strengthening the regional network and its innovation potential.

By participating in this initiative, Croatia confirms its ambition to become a relevant player in the European and global space sector, leveraging regional cooperation as a driver of accelerated technological and economic development.
