The world is changing rapidly, thanks to the swift development of advanced technologies in the field of space exploration. To participate in this progress, the Perun project was launched as the core of the aerospace program in the Republic of Croatia. The series of Perun satellites is expected to spearhead this development and would include Earth observation (of Croatia and the region), with the potential to expand into scientific experiments and testing of new technologies. The first satellite, PERUN 1P, is intended to demonstrate the feasibility of its design in Croatian educational and scientific institutions, supported by domestic economic entities.

The Perun 1p platform utilizes a quadratic shaped structure. The platform equipment and the payload Instrument Control units are mounted within the mechanical platform.
The ground station for the PDGS (Payload Data Ground Segment) in the operational phase is in Viškovo (Croatia), within the compound of SCAM-MARINE firm. Geographic location is 45 0 23’20.06’’ N, 14 0 23’10.91’’E, at the elevation 360m AMSL.

After ejection, Perun 1p rotates freely, between 1 and 5 full rotations in a minute. Rotation is determined by orientation of the Body Fixed Reference Frame.
Ground Station Coverage of Perun 1p. Red dot represent ground station and yellow dot Sun. Black dot is Perun 1p not being Sun exposed and white dot when it is. The red “circle” shows the extent of visibility of Perun 1p from the ground. Green line is the equator.
