Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of UN COPUOS

At the meeting of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of UN COPUOS, Croatia has its representatives as observers.

The regular meeting of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee is attended by OSCE Ambassador Mario Horvatić, Jasminka Dinić and Iva Baković as members of the delegation. Croatia has observer status but should be admitted to a permanent membership at the session in June.

The meeting is also attended by A3 member Mirta Medanić as part of the SGAC (Space Generation Advisory Council) delegation.

Adriatic Aerospace Conference is the organizer of the first regional meeting devoted to collaboration in space technologies. The goal of the Conference is to stimulate and strengthen the regional cooperation in research and development of advanced technologies, mainly used in space activities. The profile of the Conference is one-day meeting, where all participants will briefly report on their current activities and future programs. This should give push for further common developments in the field of nano-satellite technologies like construction, functions, propulsion, communication, attitude control, and similar. It is intended that the conference acquires annual character as a gathering of participants in space research and development in SE Europe.

About Adria Space Conference 2019

The aim of the Meeting is to bring together regional activities in the field of Space research and development, to develop future technologies for the use in Space. We wish to intensify the regional collaboration where there is big difference in research and development in the field of Space. It should be opportunity for those with extensive experience to help those with no experience to the benefit of both.

The Meeting is organized by the Adriatic Aerospace Association, Zagreb, Croatia. We expect the sponsorship by the Ministry of Science and Education and some other associations.

The Meeting will include 2-3 topic lectures by eminent representatives from the European organizations, followed by 10 minutes short presentations by participating groups describing their state-of-the art achievements.

Bilateral meetings will be organized on the day preceding the Meeting at 5-7 p.m., followed by the welcome party.

We could also arrange for some space for those that wish to exhibit some of their products.

Croatia officially launched the ESA accession process

At its 64th session, held on November 2, 2017, the Government of the Republic of Croatia adopted a decision on the initiation of the procedure for concluding an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the European Space Agency (ESA) on space co-operation for peaceful purposes.

The Republic of Croatia is not a formal member of ESA. In April 2014, a letter of intent was sent to the Director General of the ESA, expressing the desire of the Republic of Croatia to become a member state. In May 2015, Croatia discusses co-operation options with the ESA delegation. Since 2015, the Republic of Croatia participates as observer state at the sessions of the ESA Council, the International Relations Committee and other working bodies.

The agreement paves the way for the full co-operation with ESA, facilitates the exchange of information through meetings, workshops, training programs and application of specific data as well as the use of the ESA’s assistance in compiling the national space strategy.

The long-term interest of the Republic of Croatia in terms of cooperation with ESA is also of economic nature. Approximately 90% of the budget of the European Space Agency is allocated for contracts with European industry and therefore it is expected that the Agreement will ultimately open new business opportunities for successful economic operators from the Republic of Croatia.
